How does Book a Ceremony work?+
Browse officiants by tradition, location, and service type. Submit a booking request in under 2 minutes β no phone calls needed. The officiant reviews and accepts, you pay a deposit to lock in your date, and you're confirmed.
How does Zuma work?+
Zuma is our AI ceremony guide. It ranks officiants by how well they fit your ceremony β tradition, language, location, date availability, budget, and any details you share β and shows your best matches with a short explanation of why. It only surfaces officiants who actually serve your area, are available on your date, and fit your budget; Zuma ranks the fit, it never overrides those facts. Recommendations are suggestions to help you choose β you always decide who to book.
What if there are no officiants in my area yet?+
Join the waitlist for your date and location and tell us what you're looking for (ceremony type, language, budget). The moment a matching officiant becomes available in your area, we'll email you and surface them in your dashboard under "Recommended for you." You can update your preferences anytime before you book.
Are the officiants verified?+
Yes. Officiant identity is verified by Stripe as part of payout setup β we don't collect or store government ID documents ourselves. Officiants also attest that they're legally authorized to perform ceremonies in the areas they serve, and may optionally upload credential documents (letters of good standing, state/county registrations) for a "Credentialed" badge, which our team reviews. Badges reflect the information provided and are not a legal determination of authority.
How is pricing determined?+
Each officiant sets their own prices per service. You see the full price before you submit a request β no hidden fees. At booking you pay a 50% deposit plus a platform service fee (shown at checkout). The remaining 50% balance must be paid through the platform via Stripe before the 48-hour cancellation window.
What is the platform service fee?+
We charge a platform service fee at time of booking, shown transparently at checkout before you pay. This covers secure payment processing, platform infrastructure, and customer support. The fee is non-refundable β it covers costs incurred regardless of outcome.
What is the cancellation policy?+
If the officiant cancels: full refund β deposit and platform service fee returned in full within 5β10 business days. If you cancel 48+ hours before the ceremony: full refund β deposit and platform service fee returned in full. If you cancel within 48 hours: no refund β your officiant receives 75% of the deposit as a kill fee; the platform retains the remainder plus the platform service fee.
How does payment work?+
All payments are processed through Stripe. You pay the deposit and platform fee at booking. The remaining balance must be paid through the platform via Stripe before the 48-hour cancellation window β no cash or off-platform payments.
Will a customer account be created when I book?+
Yes. When you submit a booking, a free account is automatically created with your email address. You'll receive a link to set your password β valid for 48 hours. Your account lets you track bookings, message your officiant, and manage payments all in one place.
What if I need to reschedule?+
Contact your officiant directly through the platform to discuss rescheduling. Most officiants are flexible with enough notice. Rescheduling is handled between you and the officiant β your deposit stays credited toward the new date.
Can I message an officiant before booking?+
You can include questions and notes in the booking request form. The officiant reviews them before accepting. If you have complex requirements, put them in the special notes field β officiants appreciate knowing upfront.
Are officiants licensed to perform ceremonies?+
Requirements vary by ceremony type and state. Most officiants on our platform are ordained through recognized religious bodies or legal officiating organizations. For legally binding civil ceremonies, confirm with your officiant that they are licensed in your state.
What languages are available?+
Officiants on our platform offer services in many languages including English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Arabic, Hebrew, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Bengali, and more. Use the language filter on the browse page to find officiants who speak your language.
Where do you operate?+
We serve families nationwide. Browse officiants, filter by tradition and location, and book the right person for your ceremony wherever you are.
I'm an officiant or celebrant β how do I join?+
Click "Join as Officiant or Celebrant" in the top navigation and create your profile. Set your services, prices, and service areas. Once your credentials are reviewed and approved by our team, your profile goes live. Connect your Stripe account to receive deposit payouts automatically.
How do officiants receive their payments?+
Officiants connect a Stripe Express account through the dashboard. Once connected, deposit payments transfer automatically to your bank account after each booking. The remaining balance (50%) is paid by the client through Stripe before the 48-hour window and transferred to your connected account. You are responsible for reporting and paying applicable taxes on your earnings.
Is my personal information secure?+
Yes. We never store raw payment card data β all payments are processed by Stripe. Passwords are stored as secure hashes. Your personal information is only shared with the officiant you book. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
